Demeter?

I have fucking FINALLY bought a perfume other than BPAL, lol! I have weird chemical allergies and have to hold my breath walking through the perfume counter at department stores, and I can't use alcohol sprays, but I saw Demeter has inexpensive little roll-on perfume oils so I thought I'd see if I could wear those. I got Lavender, Natural Lavender, and Petrichor (because how could I not get Petrichor, for the boy or girl who's tired of waiting). I have some friends who really love Demeter, has anyone here tried their stuff? Any recs or non-recs?

FedEx says the box is coming! Remarkably fast, given all the troubles re shipping I've heard about.

I dunno WTF it is about alcohol sprays -- I can't deal with certain insecticide sprays too (Off or whatever).

Lavender is my top forever fave so I always check a house's lavender first, but OMFG I'm kind of sad I didn't think to get Dirt and Earthworm along with Petrichor! (plus a rain scent surely)

....I love BPAL but I gotta admit, not missing the lack of patchouli I've seen so far with Demeter and other indies, because patchouli is instant migraine misery for me.

In that vein, you might be interested in CB I Hate Perfume's Black March (company founded by Christopher Brosius, who made most of the early Demeter scents before leaving to do his own thing). It's the best "cold rainy spring, things just starting to grow in muddy earth" scent I've ever smelled.

I have heard of I Hate Perfume! ....I gotta admit, I love and adore BPAL but I'm just tired of the patchouli and gingerbread and dry leaves and smoke and other stuff I can't wear, or don't like. I also like using scents for writing inspiration, so that might be fun to check out....

IIRC, CB I Hate Perfume does scents in either a water or an oil base, so you hopefully shouldn't have the alcohol spray problem with them.

No! I have really tried pretty much diddly/squat other than BPAL, because every single perfume up til then made me sneeze at best. (Didn't help that my mother, who ALSO had chemical sensitivities or whatever the fuck these "Safe" reactions are, doted on Giorgio and loved this terrible "I can't believe it's not Giorgio!" knockoff for decades.) Anything alcohol-based also tends to really really irritate my skin. :-/

Well, it's not perfume, but my mom gave me a Naked Bee gift set with lavender lotion, body butter, and a lip balm and it is intensely fragranced with a true lavender smell. No hint of sweetness.

I really love that mentholated, almost medicinal quality of lavender. And this has it in spades.

Mom likes it because it's gluten free, and she's convinced that even topically applied gluten could trigger celiac. I'm not as convinced (I mean for lipsticks, sure, of course), but I like this brand.

Looking at reddit (ugh) convos, everyone's favourite is Ginger Ale, altho I'm not that into food/drink scents. Also a lot of complaints these are faint? but those seem to be more about the spray versions.

I kind of like some of them? I got a frimp of an apple cider once, and it was AMAZING, it smelled exactly like apple cider, and there are a few coffee scents I really like, but they have other layers so it's not just straight coffee. But the BPAL scent maker (parfumier?) does this thing where she does chocolates for the V-Day perfumes, and gingerbread added to some classic perfumes, and a whole lot of pastries, and....I think it's popular with a fairly big crowd with a lot of money to drop on so-called blind bottles of it, but I don't want to smell like a pastry!
