4 scents from BPAL's Metamorphosis collection
Metamorphosis
Little Metalmark
Nagarmotha and sweet musk.
In the imp, this has all the biteyness of vetiver, so much so that I almost didn't even try it on my skin.
As soon as it hits my skin, though, the sharpness recedes and it gets a really warm musk scent. It gets a wonderfully spicy note, that's not any one thing, but more like the first whiff of opening a spice cabinet.
After about 30 minutes, the musk is really developing, getting a slightly sour note that I associate with civet. It gives this more of a dirty, funky smell than I was expecting given the description of sweet musk. Mmm.
Sadly, this doesn't last very long on me. A few hours at the most. It's really nice, though, and surprisingly complex for only having two notes listed. I think this goes on my to-buy list.
Question Mark
Blackened vanilla absolute with tobacco leaf, Ceylon cinnamon, orange-bark myrrh, and orange blossom.
In the imp, this is spicy vanilla and faint orange.
On my skin, it goes to tobacco immediately, then slowly the spice and orange come back. And then it's gone. :(
Yucca Giant-Skipper
White patchouli, oudh, vanilla absolute, copaiba balsam, pepperwood, and champaca flower.
In the imp, this is sharp, green wood. Holy crap.
On my skin it is still sharp, green wood. Really sharp. There's a layer of patchouli under the woodsyness, but it's almost lost. I started sneezing about 5 minutes into this, and washed it off after 10.
Goatweed Leafwing
Tonka bean, orange blossom, ambrette seed, and brown sandalwood.
In the imp, the is almost entirely tonka, all sweet and smokey.
On my skin, the wood notes come up along with a really light floral. It's sweet, but not overwhelmingly so, with a hint of spiciness that I can't really place. This is like a dialed down version of Yucca Giant-Skipper.
