Thanks for sharing. Shanghai is probably my favorite BPAL so far, though I sadly don't get much honeysuckle from it - it's mostly green tea with a touch of sweet lemon, and not at all soapy. Whereas every rose I've tried has gone soapy on me. The whole soapy thing is so weird, since it's a term people (including me, obviously!) use, and yet I'm not sure what it means. I mean, I know what *I* mean by it, but I have no idea if it corresponds to what other people mean. Does that make sense?
On me the honeysuckle starts to kick in after the first couple of minutes, so the lemony scent gets sweeter. I don't get the green tea scent at all, though. Mind you, I'm not sure what people mean by a green tea scent. Is it the scent of the dry tea, or of a cup of green tea? Both of those are quite dry, bitter scents to me, but it's listed as a component in perfumes that I find sweet and fruity :-/
I don't know what other people mean by 'soapy'. This is the first scent that has smelled soapy to me, and I thought it smelled like a generic store brand hand soap in one of those pump bottles. It's like the other scent components just vanish into a vague chemical-y residue. I'm not sure what component in soap makes it smell like that, but glycerin soaps don't have that smell.
I never get any wickedness from London either! It's kinda puzzling. I also amp citrus notes like it's my job, so Shanghai has never been anything but lime-lemon ("limon," remember that one) on me, SIGH.
